Overwhelmed Yet Inspired

So. Lately, paper season has been hitting full force, between Renaissance, Modes and Civ, life is somewhat nuts, though I'm leaving my civ one until the end, since it shouldn't present too too many problems. However, it has been coming down to either doing class readings or working on papers, and to be honest, i really find it ridiculous. I think that someone should propose to the university that for courses which require substantial written work, class should either end 2 weeks earlier or the semester should be extended. That way you could actually have the time to REALLY get into your work, to really read entire secondary sources, not just chapters out of context here and there, and really get a good grasp of the issue you're tackling and the scholarship surrounding it. Yes, i know, grad school will be better, and there time will be more plentiful, but still, I don't see why that should only begin then. Undergrad would be the opportune time for that kind of exploration. If they NEEDED to supervise you to make sure that you're doing your work, schedule weekly meetings where you could just simply talk informally about your topic and the new directions it's been taking in your recent research. Bah, sorry. That was somewhat ranty. It's just so frustrating how all of these papers end up being reduced down to mere formalities and hoops to jump through. Those should not exist by the time you hit university, the real purpose of them should be an exploration that lights the way to some kind of truth. On the plus side, life is getting better by the second I think, and in a real sense. It's really incredible when something so ideal, but at the same time so real and down to earth just appears, and completely blows you away, yet nonetheless, seems to remain, and not show any signs of sudden dissappearing at all. Reality really isn't so bad after all.

It's the most wonderful time of the year... it's back... paper season... the last sprint to the finish line. My beef with school tends to be that I think there should be more rehersal spaces on campus... or that theatre students had lab time pre-booked for rehersal time to eliminate scedual conflicts... oh school. I mean other then all that life's pretty good. I have to concur on the reality just blowing you away. That part of life is really good.
